34 Scientific Studies Showing Adverse Health Effects From Wi-Fi





Here is an excellent collection of scientific papers finding adverse biological effects or damage to health from Wi-Fi signals, Wi-Fi-enabled devices or Wi-Fi frequencies (2.4 or 5 GHz), complied by campaign group WiFi In Schools.


The papers listed are only those where exposures were 16V/m or below.  Someone using a Wi-Fi-enabled tablet computer can be exposed to electromagnetic fields up to 16V/m.  Papers are in alphabetical order.  A file of first pages, for printing, can be found here.

Wi-Fi alters brain activity in young adults.

The attractiveness of Wi-Fi as a learning tool in schools is significantly decreased if it could be damaging the cognitive abilities and brain development of pupils.  The studies used a Wi-Fi access point (1.5m away), giving a field strength of 0.49V/m. This is well within the exposures experienced by someone using a Wi-Fi enabled laptop. More [pdf]


Professor Yuri Grigoriev on Wi-Fi and health.

This is what two Russian professors have to say about the evidence for concern that we have mentioned above regarding the impairment of cognitive function.

Professor Oleg Grigoriev, Director of the Russian Centre for Electromagnetic Safety, Head of the Laboratory "Radiobiology and Hygiene for Non-Ionizing Radiation" of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia and Vice Chairman of the Russian National Committee on Non-Ironizing Radiation Protection (RCNIRP) has kindly offered Wi-Fi in Schools his view on the use of wireless technologies in schools:

"Our committee and I are personally against the use of Wi-Fi systems in schools. Professor Yury Grigoriev (Chairman of the RCNIRP) has the same opinion. The reason that it forms a very complex form of electromagnetic field, but in this case the probability of biological effect is higher than when the same total dose is created by one source of unmodulated electromagnetic field. This pattern is for non-thermal electromagnetic fields. There are very good studies that have shown that prolonged exposure to low-intensity radio waves in children disturbed cognitive function, and we trust this research". More [pdf]

Wifi banned around the Globe

Wifi banned in French schools and smart meters delayed.

The Israeli Ministry Of Education has issued new guidelines regarding WiFi use in schools. [english translation here]
Israeli’s Minister of Health supports the call to ban Wi-Fi in schools.

EU watchdog calls for urgent action on Wi-Fi radiation.

The Council of Europe has called for a ban on Wi-Fi use in schools and recommends wired internet connections in schools.

In 2008 Russian National Committee on Non-Ironizing Radiation Protection (RNCNIRP) gave a warning about the serious and irreparable consequences of electromagnetic radiation especially for children.  In 2011, they again intensified this warning and recommended WiFi not be used in schools.

The Swiss Government has issued cautions in regard to wireless radiation emitted by baby monitors, mobile phones, laptops, tablets etc

In Austria, the Austrian Medical Association has pressed for a ban of Wi-Fi in schools.

The Public Health Department of Salzburg has advised schools not to use WiFi.

The Bavarian Parliament has recommended that schools in the province should not use wireless.

The Frankfurt City Government said that it would not install WiFi in its schools until it has been proven to be harmless.

The French national library along with other libraries in Paris, and a number of universities have removed all Wi-Fi networks.  Wi-Fi has also been removed from all schools in the town of Herouville-Saint-Clair.

Some schools in England, France and Canada have dismantled their Wi-Fi and reverted to a wired system due to concerns raised by parents and teachers, and also due to health symptoms experienced by some children.
